General Description:

The World Cocoa Foundation (WCF) is a non-profit organization promoting social and economic development as well as environmental stewardship in cocoa-growing communities of Africa, Southeast Asia and the Americas.  WCF manages the Empowering Cocoa Households with Opportunities and Education Solutions (ECHOES) Alliance, which aims to strengthen cocoa-growing communities by expanding opportunities for youth and young adults through relevant education in Côte d’Ivoire and Ghana through the implementation of multiple activities by four in-country technical partners.  The program seeks to serve as a scalable model for education in rural West Africa.

 

WCF seeks an Education Program Manager to provide support to the Education Program Director and in-country teams for WCF’s ECHOES Alliance in Ghana and Côte d’Ivoire.  Candidates should possess excellent leadership, organizational and report writing skills, as well as have an extensive understanding of international development and education programs in West Africa.  The successful candidate will be detailed-oriented and possess proven management and financial capabilities. He/she will be a dynamic self-starter capable of building and strengthening relationships among donors, implementing partners as well as with government contacts both in the U.S. and host countries.  Intermediate French level is required.  Experience with education program management and reporting for U.S. government and private foundation agreements is preferred.

 

This position is a two-year term, renewable up to three additional years, based on performance.  Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States for the duration of the position.  Annual salary level is mid $40’s, dependent on experience.  This position will be based at the WCF office in Washington, DC and will report to the WCF Education Program Director.  Estimated start date: October 2010.
